Giordano Mozzi was awarded with the title of Merit in Gold Edicola of Virgilio from the city of Mantua, to have "revived, with his victories in Italy and abroad, the motor splendour of Nuvolari land".

The occasion of the ceremony was the presentation of the civic merits in Mantua 2012. The mayor Nicola Sodano and the Prime Minister Giuliano Longfils in the presence of the civil, military and ecclesiastical authority, presented the Merit in Gold Edicola of Virgilio to the four ambassadors of Mantua in the world.
In addition to Giordano Mozzi were in fact awarded: the ex volleyball player Matteo Negri, the actor Nicola De Buono and the aesthetics professor at the University of Lyon Mauro Carbone.
